First and foremost, I am blessed to be married to Lori Mackey, a proud Sumter County native who holds an education degree from Auburn University and a Master's in Education from the University of West Alabama. Lori built a successful career as a reading coach at Sunshine Elementary School before moving into real estate with BMRE, where she continues to thrive. I am also the proud father of a remarkable daughter, a recent Auburn University graduate who brings me immense joy. Sally is working on becoming an equine veterinarian. She shares a passion for equestrian life, singing, dancing, and has a love for puppies and horses that lights up any room. Born and raised in Demopolis, Alabama, my love for the land started early, working cattle, fixing fences, and bailing hay on my grandparents' farm in nearby Uniontown. It was there I learned the value of hard work, the importance of keeping your word, and the true meaning of community. During my time at Auburn University studying Animal and Dairy Science, I worked as a veterinary assistant and shoed horses to put myself through school. Summers were spent under the wide Wyoming skies at the R Lazy S Ranch in Jackson Hole, leading tourists on overnight horseback trips and deepening my lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. After graduating, I returned to Uniontown to pursue cattle and catfish farming. Farming during the economic challenges of the early 1980s taught me resilience, and by 1984, I shifted my focus to real estate and entrepreneurship. I opened the Faunsdale Bar and Grill and co-founded the Alabama Crawfish Festival, strengthening community ties and celebrating our local culture. Today, I specialize in agricultural land brokerage and appraisals across Alabama’s Black Belt region. I hold a Certified General Appraisal License, along with the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designations. For over a decade, I've been the market leader in land transactions in the area, providing top-quality service and trusted expertise to my clients. I am a former president of the Perry County Cattleman's Association, a Demopolis Rotarian, a member of the Alabama Real Estate Appraisal Board, and an active vestry member of both St. Michael's and Church of the Holy Cross Episcopal churches.
